Tim Burton’s latest supernatural horror series Wednesday is a delightful reboot of The Addams Family

A supernatural horror and comedy Netflix series based on The Addams Family is directed by Tim Burton who is known for his gothic, quirky and gruesome style and has to his credits some of the biggest blockbusters in Hollywood history – Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhands, Batman, Planet of the Apes, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, to name a few. Seeking to bring something new and reinventing the Addams family that has been showcased many times before is no mean task. Reboots usually are sore, but this new Addams family spin-off with Wednesday Addams’ character as the basis of the series is a delightful surprise.

Starring Jenna Ortega in the lead, the series follows the character’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town and solve the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while mastering her emerging psychic ability, making new friends, and also some foes at Nevermore Academy.

Jenna Ortega locks your attention as a smart, sarcastic teenager with a heap of macabre feminist flair supported by a cast that compliments her equally well. The eight-episode first season is a great watch for family viewing over the Christmas holidays.
