What Fujairah’s growth plans mean for entrepreneurs, investors and the UAE economy

The United Arab Emirates has long been the cradle of oil revenues, but, gradually, the focus has shifted to diversifying economic strengths and making each emirate an independent power centre. Strategic location, strong infrastructure, and ambitious development plans, makes Fujairah a rapidly emerging key economic powerhouse within the UAE. With a focus on diversification, the emirate is driving growth across logistics, construction, creative industries, and SMEs while making entrepreneurship and international investment its top priorities cementing its role as a thriving business and innovation hub.

Strategic Borders

Fujairah has the locational advantage of being UAE’s gateway to international borders. Bordering Oman and enjoying direct access to the Indian Ocean, it is strategically positioned to have a strong port and logistics base. This advantage is being actively leveraged to drive higher revenue growth in the coming years. With world-class shipping and port facilities connected to global trade networks, Fujairah has a key potential to attract international investments. Moreover, Fujairah International Airport plans to expand further, having witnessed an increase of 22% in flights over the last year, highlighting the increasing international economic engagement.

Strong Focus on Development

Aligned with the UAE’s global vision, the emirate is actively working toward its goals under the Fujairah Plan 2026. This comprehensive strategy focuses on talent development, expanding the logistics and construction sectors, and fostering entrepreneurship and investment.

Looking ahead, the Fujairah 2040 Plan, initiated in 2015, is driving long-term growth. With plans to build over 8,000 new homes and 1,500 hotel rooms, the emirate is preparing for a population expected to exceed half a million in the next decade. Significant investments of over AED 1.5 billion are being directed toward enhanced transport, healthcare, and integrated municipal councils signalling Fujairah’s commitment to strengthening its socio-economic position within the UAE and on the global stage.

Powerful Business Vision

With a year-on-year growth The Fujairah Creative City (FCC), the hub of the emirate’s creative and digital businesses, has seen greater political and intellectual support to build its reputation. The goal is to garner greater eyeballs for potential industries—media, production, digital marketing, creative studios, and entertainment—which build a strong base for tourism. On the anvil is Fujairah Adventures Park, which is to bring in world-class events and organisations in greater numbers.

Strong SME Growth

Given Fujairah’s strong focus on start-ups, the SME sector has emerged as a key growth area, attracting both investors and local talent. With SMEs employing over 40% of the UAE’s workforce, this sunrise sector can help draw in a younger talent pool to and from the Emirates.

To support business growth, the government has introduced dual-licensing agreements offering training, networking, and financial aid through Fujairah Creative City (FCC). Fujairah’s commitment to e-commerce and technological enhancements, ease of setting up and doing business, and virtual offices will create more business and job opportunities.

Built on the pillars of communication, connectivity, and community, Fujairah is shaping its economic future. As it hosts FUJCON 2025, a premier global bunkering and fuel oil forum, it is making sure that there are no slips in its rise to a new era.
