In the dynamic landscape of the UAE, where dreams take flight and destinies are shaped, Girish Kumar stands tall as a testament to passion, purpose, and perseverance. With nearly two decades of experience in the region, his journey is not merely one of professional milestones—but of heart, hustle, and humanitarianism.
His story began with a humble entry into the UAE, which he often calls a “stroke of luck.” But in truth, it’s a life built with relentless dedication and a deep-rooted desire to create impact. From his early days at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi to being a key part of the team behind one of the world’s most iconic structures, the Burj Khalifa, Girish’s engineering expertise shaped some of the UAE’s landmark mega-projects. As a Technical Manager, he played a critical role in transforming visions into towering realities.
But life, as it does, brought its share of storms.
The Rise, Fall, and Comeback
After a successful run in the corporate world, Girish experienced a professional setback. “I went from a hundred plus to a hundred minus,” he recalls, describing two difficult years that tested his resilience. The company he had started faced challenges and shut down—pulling the rug from under an otherwise flourishing business. But true to his nature, he didn’t let this define him. He took the lessons in stride, made a comeback and restarted his professional corporate journey eight years ago.
Amidst all of this, beyond all the titles and achievements, Girish’s heart remained anchored in service to the community. This deep-rooted calling eventually led him to embrace a new identity—that of a social entrepreneur driven by purpose.
“Family, community, a steady professional life and the ability to make a difference in the society. My heart and hands are full” —Girish Kumar
Paying It Forward
Girish has always believed in paying it forward. His love for service echoes through his initiatives back home in India. Two projects, in particular, are close to his heart:
Ammommathiri (Grandmother’s Wicks)
A heartwarming initiative in Kerala that empowers elderly women by engaging them in the creation of cotton wicks, offering not just financial independence but renewed purpose and dignity.
Ayurvastra
An interplay of the words Ayurveda and Vastra, introduces a revolutionary concept that incorporates Ayurvedic medicines into textile promoting health and wellness. Especially beneficial for newborns, pregnant women, and the elderly, Ayurvastra is now gaining recognition and has been making steady inroads with a loyal fan base globally.
He also supports a trust in Kashi (Uttar Pradesh) that provides essential supplies to senior citizens—reflecting his deep-seated commitment to creating meaningful change.
When asked about his vision for the future, Girish replies with the candour of a man who has witnessed life’s different hues – “Family, community, a steady professional life and the ability to make a difference in the society. My heart and hands are full.”
